Registration or training fees
No legitimate employer charges you to apply, interview, or onboard. A fee ask of any size is the single strongest scam signal.
OTP or password requests
Recruiters never need one-time passwords, banking OTPs, or account credentials. Sharing an OTP hands over your account.
UPI or wallet transfers
Any request to send money via UPI, Paytm, or gift cards - including "refundable deposits" - is a scam, full stop.
Rushed off-platform moves
Pressure to continue on Telegram or WhatsApp within minutes of first contact removes the paper trail scammers want gone.
Vague pay, instant offers
"Earn 5,000 daily, no experience, joining today" - real roles state a range and follow a real interview loop.
No company domain
Gmail addresses for HR, apply links on unrelated domains, or companies with no findable website deserve extra scrutiny.

How does ScrollGigs detect job scams?
Every listing is scanned before it reaches the feed: fee and OTP language, wallet-transfer asks, spam scoring, salary disclosure, apply-link host checks, and employer verification status all feed the Scam Shield state shown on each job card.
What should I do if a recruiter asks for money?
Stop responding, do not pay, and report the listing in the app. No legitimate employer charges candidates at any stage of hiring.
Are jobs on ScrollGigs verified?
Employers who prove ownership of their company domain get a verified badge. All other listings still pass Scam Shield scanning, and chat messages are screened for high-risk requests like OTPs and payments.
Can I report a suspicious job?
Yes. Every job detail view has a "Report listing" action. Reports go to moderators, feed this registry, and high-risk listings are removed.
